Mossy Grotto Falls
I have been wanting to make it to this place in the Columbia river Gorge for years. Not a lot of people do get here. I had to solicit the help of my friend and fellow photographer, Gregory Pepion, he has been here several times. You see, Mossy grotto falls is is off trail and difficult to get to. You climb roughly a thousand feet, and then you have to scramble down another thousand feet off-trail (and it is not marked) through very steep and treacherous conditions which includes falling on your arse a lot, getting bruised, twisting ankles, and throwing out your knees. Still want to make this trek? Did I mention you have to bushwhack through poison oak? There is a ton of it out there. So you do not want to have any exposed skin. And then you have to repeat the whole process once again to get out of there. Was it worth it? You bet. This falls area is one of the most magical places I have ever been to. No it's not warm here like Hawaii, however it is paradise nonetheless.
